ACC AVIATION RETURNS TO ORLEANS PARK SCHOOL
Faizal Gara, ACC Aviation Business Development Manager, and Zuzana Kralova, the Group Marketing Manager, recently spoke with the young adults at Orleans Park School in Twickenham, UK.
Faizal and Zuzana were approached by the school as part of their careers day initiative – giving students the opportunity to speak with professionals from a broad range of industries. This was the second year for Faizal to speak to Orleans Park School students, joined by his colleague, Zuzana, for the first time.
“It was a new experience for me to speak in front of students, and I am glad that I could join others in sharing professional stories to help students when they think of the next steps once they complete their education. While young students can take many opportunities and career paths nowadays, I can imagine that it can sometimes be stressful when wanting to make the right decision. I hope that by sharing my career path and experience, I helped to lift a bit of that pressure.” commented Zuzana.
The Orleans Park School careers program encourages students to consider the practical elements of their working future and how this links back to their studies. The program also aims to nurture student aspirations and career interests.
Faizal and Zuzana gave a presentation to the students explaining their background, how they entered the working world and how that led them to the professions they hold today. They explained the various activities ACC performs on behalf of clients and how the students can begin planning for a career in aviation, business and marketing.
Following the presentations, students had an opportunity to discuss openly and ask any questions.
“We were impressed by the relevance of the questions that students asked. We had questions about marketing channels we are using to target various customers, processes we undertake during the customer engagement, what we enjoy about our jobs, how we coped during COVID-19 and what impact COVID-19 had on marketing activities,” mentioned Zuzana. “Students were interested to know how aviation deals were structured, typical contract values, why would somebody look to leave a company and to join another, how one manages to find a balance with work and social life, these type of question actually underplays the serious thought these Year 12 students are giving to their futures, at that age I was thinking about where I’m going tonight and who I’m going to see!”, added Faizal. “We have a responsibility to encourage the next generation, and I’m thrilled to have played a small part in the futures of these intelligent students,” said Faizal.
The Sixth Form Administrator at Orleans Park School commented: “It was good to hear about Zuzana’s path into marketing, the fact that she worked first and then studied, starting with a Marketing Diploma and then a degree. The way she said about taking chances and believing in herself, I think, was inspiring to the students. Also, talking about the different sectors of marketing as this was interesting for the students to hear. It was really useful to hear about Faizal’s route into his career; the fact he studied for a History degree shows students that your career path can take different routes, and it is about working hard and showing employers your skills. Faizal was very personable, and it was honest and reflective, which makes these talks valuable to students.”
