ACC AVIATION RETURNS TO ORLEANS PARK SCHOOL
Faizal Gara, ACC Aviation Business Development Manager, and Zuzana Kralova, Group Marketing Manager, recently spoke with young adults at Orleans Park School in Twickenham, UK.
Faizal and Zuzana were approached by the school as part of its careers day initiative, giving students the opportunity to speak with professionals from a broad range of industries. This was the second year that Faizal had spoken to Orleans Park School students, joined by his colleague Zuzana for the first time.
“It was a new experience for me to speak in front of students, and I am glad that I could join others in sharing professional stories to help students as they think about their next steps after completing their education. While young students can pursue many opportunities and career paths nowadays, I can imagine that it can sometimes be stressful when trying to make the right decision. I hope that by sharing my career path and experience, I helped to relieve a little of that pressure,” commented Zuzana.
The Orleans Park School careers programme encourages students to consider the practical aspects of their future working lives and how these relate to their studies. The programme also aims to nurture student aspirations and career interests.
Faizal and Zuzana gave a presentation to the students explaining their backgrounds, how they entered the world of work and how that led them to the professions they hold today. They explained the various activities ACC undertakes on behalf of clients and how students can begin planning for a career in aviation, business and marketing.
Following the presentations, students had an opportunity to discuss openly and ask questions.
“We were impressed by the relevance of the questions that students asked. We had questions about the marketing channels we use to target various customers, the processes we undertake during customer engagement, what we enjoy about our jobs, how we coped during COVID-19 and what impact COVID-19 had on marketing activities,” mentioned Zuzana.
“Students were interested to know how aviation deals were structured, typical contract values, why somebody might choose to leave one company and join another, and how a person manages to find a balance between work and social life. These types of questions actually underplay the serious thought these Year 12 students are giving to their futures. At that age, I was thinking about where I was going that evening and who I was going to see!” added Faizal.
“We have a responsibility to encourage the next generation, and I’m thrilled to have played a small part in the futures of these intelligent students,” said Faizal.
The Sixth Form Administrator at Orleans Park School commented:
“It was good to hear about Zuzana’s path into marketing, the fact that she worked first and then studied, starting with a Marketing Diploma and then a degree. The way she spoke about taking chances and believing in herself was, I think, inspiring to the students. Also, talking about the different sectors of marketing was interesting for the students to hear about.
It was really useful to hear about Faizal’s route into his career; the fact that he studied for a History degree shows students that your career path can take different routes, and it is about working hard and demonstrating your skills to employers. Faizal was very personable, and his presentation was honest and reflective, which makes these talks valuable to students.”
